The Glaze

“Photography is a major force in explaining man to man.” – Edward Steichen

My kids’ generation has a term for something that happens a lot today. As a society, we have a way of over-hyping people to the point that it is cringeworthy. As much as people will show hatred to someone online, they will over-compliment them. I see it a lot with sports commentators when they are talking about a particular player, or when people are talking about certain politicians, they will compliment them over and over again. The goal is to be noticed by the people they are praising. Often, people do it when the person they are complimenting is doing something average. The goal is usually to show loyalty towards that person. When someone is speaking highly of someone like this, we have to be on the lookout for their motives. Motives often show why someone is saying what they are saying. If it’s online, then it is more than likely to get attention from that person. It may also be for clicks from the internet.

I want to show a glaze that is worth giving your attention to. Back in January, winter brought its full weather fury. The first case was when we had an ice storm in Charlotte. Everything that hit the ground that day was a combination of sleet and freezing rain. Needless to say, the roads were a mess. I did take advantage and take a walk outside with my camera to get some shots of the ice. Everything around us had a glaze of ice on it. Here are a few of the photos I captured on that day.
