Amazement

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” – Joseph Addison

When was the last time you visited somewhere and were amazed? That first moment where you see something and tell yourself that you can’t believe where you are standing right now. It’s a feeling that is hard to describe. There are just some places where you go and stare, and time passes without you even knowing. I think we should all have that feeling of amazement. It reminds you that in the end, we live on an awesome planet. When you think about the other planets in our solar system, none of them can sustain life. Our planet, however, can sustain life. Which is why I think we need to make sure that we take time in our life to go somewhere where we feel that sense of amazement. Whether it be a sunset on the lake, the top of a mountain, or a walk in the forest. We should spend some time and just feel amazed.

Back in July, I was able to feel amazed at where I was multiple times. One of the most amazing places we visited was the Hubbard Glacier. These shots that I am posting today are not of the glacier itself, but of the view we had on the way to the glacier. I spent most of the day sitting on our balcony with a cup of coffee in one hand and my camera in the other. We were pretty far away from these mountains that fill the coastline. I was able to get a close-up of them using a 500mm lens. This allowed me to get some close-ups of the mountains in the distance. These were some of my favorite shots that I captured from that day in Alaska.
