Majestic in the Distance

“A man should always consider how much he has more than he wants.” – Joseph Addison

When you travel somewhere, what do you want to see and what do you want to do? It is important that you have a plan when you visit somewhere new. When you get there, think about the one thing you want to see. When we visited Skagway, Alaska, the one thing we wanted to see was the train ride into the Yukon. We were able to do that and see some of the most amazing views ever. When we went to Ketchikan, we really didn’t have a plan. We had a great time when we visited, but we missed out on a lot while we were there. It is important to know the one thing you want to do before you go in order to make sure the trip is worth it.

When we visited Alaska last year, one thing I wanted to see was bald eagles in the wild. I had seen them plenty of times at the zoo, but never out in nature. We had visited various bald eagle observation areas, but we always arrived at the wrong time. I did get to see a few bald eagles, and one of my favorites was seeing this one in Sitka, Alaska. It was perched in the distance. It was almost as if he was posing for the camera. I captured the best photos I could of him. Even though the eagle was far away, it was still pretty awesome to see him in person.
