“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” – Marcus Aurelius

Something you have to know about me: I get up early. Not really by choice; it is just a fact of life. My kids usually get on the bus around 6:15. I usually leave for work before 7. On a typical day, I wake up around 5:30. I could sleep a little later. However, I like to enjoy my morning a little and have a cup of coffee before I get ready for the day. I prefer a slower morning as opposed to being rushed. Since I get up so early, I rarely stay up late. On New Year’s Eve, once midnight hits, I usually go right to bed. I don’t usually stay up that late. I am just set in my routine.

Since I am rarely up late at night, I don’t take a lot of photos in the evening. During spring break, my family and I took a trip to Helen, Georgia. Helen is an alpine-themed town located in the North Georgia Mountains. They have all of the buildings covered in string lights, and they are lit up at night. We took a walk around Helen after dark, and I brought my camera with the Starburst filter from Retropia. I took a lot of photos while we were walking around. Some turned out great, while others did not. It was hard to tell which ones turned out great at the time, so I just kept walking around and snapping photos. I just started looking back at some of them yesterday, and these are the ones that turned out great to me. I am not sure how I managed to pull it off compared to the others, but I really like how these turned out.
