“The point is that, while failure can be expected, those who persevere and succeed eventually don’t let their failures define them.” – G. Shawn Hunter

We have a choice over what parts of our lives define us. We choose what defines us based on what we focus on. We can easily focus on where we have failed by allowing those things to consume us. In photography, I can easily look back at the photos that I have taken over the years and judge them negatively. I have taken some bad ones before, and sadly some of those bad ones stick out in my mind. From it being somewhere I have only visited one time to some of my family that didn’t turn out right. While they are not pinned on my Instagram page, sometimes these images get pinned in my mind. When that happens, I go back to the ones that turned out great. Sometimes I even take a moment and pull up the ones on my computer that turned out great. This way, I allow the good ones to stick out in my mind.

These photos are some that I go back to when I want to look at some good ones. During spring break, my family and I took a trip to Helen, Georgia. Helen is an alpine-themed town located in the North Georgia Mountains. They have all of the buildings covered in string lights, and they are lit up at night. We took a walk around Helen after dark, and I brought my camera with the Starburst filter from Retropia. I took a lot of photos while we were walking around. Some turned out great, while others did not. It was hard to tell which ones turned out great at the time, so I just kept walking around and snapping photos. I just started looking back at some of them yesterday, and these are the ones that turned out great to me. I am not sure how I managed to pull it off compared to the others, but I really like how these turned out.
