“It is only the farmer who faithfully plants seeds in the Spring, who reaps a harvest in the Autumn.” – B. C. Forbes

One of the hardest things to teach my 5th graders is how what you do today affects your tomorrow. I see so many students try hard when they have to do a major assessment. They struggle because they didn’t practice or prepare in advance. Many of them think it’s okay to put off doing the work before the test begins. Then they wonder why the test doesn’t go their way, and I show them why the preparation before the assessment was important. That’s one thing I focus on with every group of students that I have every year. What we do today affects what happens tomorrow. Sometimes we don’t see the results of our work until the very end. As a teacher, I don’t see the full results of my students until the end of the year. It takes ten months of work to get to the end. I take those lessons I have learned as a teacher and apply them to my students.

Preparation is important in photography too. You can’t just walk up somewhere, take a photo, and have it turn out perfect every time. There is so much that has to be considered when capturing a great photo. Light can be your best friend or your worst enemy at the same time. Having the right lens for the right moment is important too. To me, the most important part is practice. The more I practice with my camera, the better I am at using it. Practice paid off when we visited Northeast Georgia during spring break. A trip to Northeast Georgia isn’t complete without a visit to Toccoa Falls. Toccoa Falls is known as a hidden gem in Georgia. It’s one of the easiest waterfalls to access in the southeastern United States. It is located in Toccoa, Georgia, on the campus of Toccoa Falls College. At 186 feet, it is 25 feet taller than Niagara Falls. The falls are magnificent and a must-see when you travel through Georgia. It’s a short walk to the base of the falls. This waterfall is located on the campus from which I graduated college.
