Enjoying the Falls

“The goal of art was the vital expression of self.” – Alfred Stieglitz

Sometimes you don’t appreciate something while you are there. It’s always there and close by until one day things change and it is gone. We struggle to appreciate something while it is there, and then we miss it when it is gone. Sometimes we have it, and we don’t fully appreciate it while it is there. It’s weird when we don’t see what we have lost until we have actually lost it. This is why it is important to pause and be grateful for what we have when we have it. The best way is to take a moment everyday and write down 5 to 10 things that you are thankful for. This short exercise done over the course of a few days will take you a long way in showing what great things you have, and what we should be appreciating on a daily basis. Taking a moment to be grateful for what we have is how we appreciate it before it is gone.

A trip to Northeast Georgia isn’t complete without a visit to Toccoa Falls. My wife and I graduated from Toccoa Falls College. The falls are located on the college campus. We have visited the falls more since we graduated college than we did while we were attending college. We just didn’t think about taking a walk over there. I’m glad that I have been able to go back and visit. I appreciate the falls more since I am older. Toccoa Falls is known as a hidden gem in Georgia. It’s one of the easiest waterfalls to access in the southeastern United States. At 186 feet, it is 25 feet taller than Niagara Falls. The falls are magnificent and a must-see when you travel through Georgia. It’s a short walk to the base of the falls. This waterfall is located on the campus from which I graduated college.
