What is Love?

“The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.” – Ferdinand Foch

We have a confused view of love today in our society. We base our idea of love on what we see in the movies, TV shows, and on social media. The idea of love that is portrayed is that love is a feeling. While it is true that feelings are involved with love, that is not what love actually is. Currently, I am reading a book that gives the Jewish perspective of the life and work of Jesus Christ. The author of this book describes love perfectly. Love is the willingness to lose so that another may gain. We think of love as this feeling, but true love requires action. Showing love towards someone means that we give up something in order for the lives of others to be better. If you say you love your spouse, there is something you are willing to give up for them to show them that you love them. It can be money, time, possessions, or even convenience. Showing that we truly love them means we want them to do better. The same goes for loving our neighbor; if we love our neighbor, we want them to be a better person, and we show it by our actions more than by our words.

Anna Ruby Falls is named after Anna Ruby Nichols. Colonel John H. Nichols discovered the land he had purchased after the American Civil War. Anna Rudy was his only surviving daughter, so he named it after her. The falls are located a few miles outside of Helen, Georgia. For a small fee and a short walk, you can visit the falls. The drive to the falls is beautiful. You take this winding road, and there are a couple of falls you can see as you drive up. I captured these photos that I am posting while we were walking up to the falls. It took me almost an hour to walk a path that only takes 30 minutes to hike because I was too busy capturing photos. This place is amazing.
