“If you would know strength and patience, welcome the company of trees.” – Hal Borland

We forget how much things have changed in the last few months. Seasons come and go. It’s important to reflect on how things were in order to appreciate the moments we have now. For me as a teacher, summers are nice. Summer is my opportunity to rest, recharge, travel, and catch up on things I missed out on. Those moments of rest are what help me prepare for the upcoming school year. Right now, it feels like work was such a long time ago, but I know it will be back sooner rather than later. I still have a few weeks left to enjoy this time, and I plan on it.

I don’t think I will ever forget when we got over a foot of snow back at the end of January. It’s crazy to think that, at one time, everything outside my house was completely covered. Not only did it keep us home for a few days, but it also kept school closed even longer. I was glad when it was here, but I was also happy when it was gone. I took advantage of my camera as much as possible because who knows when it will snow like that again. The day before I wrote this post, it was 90 degrees outside. Looking back at these photos almost seems surreal. I remember having to go outside back at the end of January with multiple layers on. Now, I’m trying to see how few layers I can wear and not get arrested (just kidding, I dress decently when I go outside). It’s crazy how quickly the seasons have changed in North Carolina. Looking back at these photos feels like they came from another era.
