Have you ever had that feeling like you are not getting the opportunity your greatness deserves? You feel like you are missing out, and you could do so much more with the gifts you have now? If you have that feeling, how do you respond? Is it easy to just say things like, “They don’t appreciate me,” or just do as little as possible because your true opportunity hasn’t arrived yet? We know we should be doing better, and we want to wait for our opportunity. The truth is, we should maximize the opportunities we have in front of us now. More often than not, where we are now is preparing us for where we are heading later. If we don’t take advantage of the opportunities we are given today, then we will not be ready for tomorrow’s.
One of the reasons you will see me post occasional photos from my hometown or my neighborhood walks is that I like to practice my photography when I can. I would love to take a great trip to Europe or some far-off destination once a month or more, but a teacher’s salary tends to get in the way of that. That’s okay; by practicing at home, it prepares me for when I can get out and take great photos. Practicing at home prepared me for taking these photos in Edinburgh, Scotland, when we visited. A few of these shots I have posted have the Ross Fountain with Edinburgh Castle in the background. The Ross Fountain was produced at the iron foundry of Antoine Durenne in Sommevoire, France. It was an exhibit at the Great Exhibition of 1862. It was purchased by gunmaker Daniel Ross in 1862 for £2,000 and subsequently gifted to the city of Edinburgh. Here are a few photos I captured from around this area.
