“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” – Frederick Douglass

Every season has its purpose. There comes a point where a season has to end. It was good (or maybe bad) for a time, but that time has now ended. The key to embracing a new season is that we cannot live as if we are in the old one. If we live as if we are in the old one, we will miss out on the opportunities we have in the new one. This is something I deal with when it comes to working with leaders who have been doing the same role for a while. Sometimes they lead as if they are in an old season because during that particular season they were successful. What they are not mindful of in those moments is that this new season is different, from different people to different systems that are in place. If we want to be successful in our current season, we have to live as if we are in it.

Vacation is a different season, and unfortunately, we can’t stay there forever. Last year, my family and I took a cruise around the Inside Passage of Alaska. This was one of my favorite trips of all time. We saw icebergs up close, whales breaching the water, and bald eagles soaring the skies. On the last day of our cruise, we stopped at Victoria, Canada. Victoria is a beautiful and vibrant city. We took a bike carriage ride to the heart of the city, and then we walked around to different places. These are some of the photographs I captured of the different people and things while we were there.
