Necessary Change

“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.” – Edmund Hillary

We tend to like things to stay the same, such as our routines and the people around us, but things cannot stay the same forever. We like things to keep going the way they are, but the truth is, life does not work like that. Change is happening all around us. From kids growing up to adults getting older, aging causes change. The job we work at is different than it was a few years ago. It seems like the place we started working at is different than the place we are at now. Change is something that will happen whether we like it or not. We have to embrace change and learn how to adapt to it.

One huge change in my life came this last summer. We had been living in our last house for 14 years when a developer approached us with a very good offer. We had planned to stay until our kids had graduated from high school, but this offer made it hard for us to say no. We accepted the offer and moved for the first time in over a decade. We knew when our house was sold that it would be torn down, but we did not realize it would be such a short time after we sold it. Our old neighbor messaged us the day our old house was being torn down. We went out to watch our home of 14 years be demolished. It was sad to see the house go, but we are happy where we are now.
