It’s Been a While

“Find a place inside where there’s joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.” – Joseph Campbell

Since the new year just started recently, I decided it is time to share a little life update. The last month and half have been great and challenging at the same time. Winter break couldn’t have been more perfect this year. For the first time in a few years, we decided to stay home and relax during break. We did spend time with family on the holidays, but we mostly relaxed at the house and caught up on some projects we had been wanting to complete. Before winter break started, I did something I had not had to do in over ten years of teaching, I had to take a week off work for being sick. For the first two days, I stayed home with my kids, then for the final three days I was sick at home with Covid (the weekend was in-between if you are wondering about timing). Before all of that, I had been struggling with a really bad cold before that. Needless to say, the one thing I didn’t get to do was to go out with my camera and ride my bike. I typically try to go out at least once a week, but I was trying recover and be healthy for the holidays.

While I wanted to go out more for the last few weeks, I am glad that I feel better. I was able to think of a few ideas for posts and videos that I will be working on in the next few weeks.

I took this photo on my first bike ride a few weeks ago. I took a short ride since it was my first one in a while. I took a simple ride straight down the rail trail in Southend, and rode to Uptown Charlotte. I stopped at The Green. It’s a small urban park with a theme of promoting literacy. While this might not be my best picture, it is one of my favorites. For me this signifies a return to doing something I love. It reminds me of how blessed I am to have my health, my family, and a promise of a great 2023.
