The Meaning of Sunsets

“Every sunset is an opportunity to reset.” — Richie Norton

What does sunset mean to you? When you look out and see the sun setting in the evening, what comes to mind? The first thing that comes to mind for me is the obvious: how the day is over. I look back and think about all that happened that day. From my accomplishments to where I could have done better, sunset is where I start to reflect on that. While sunset marks the end of the day, the upcoming sunrise marks a time where new opportunities await. While this day is over, I go ahead and start to prepare myself for the next day, from what I need to accomplish that day to how I can prepare for success. Sunset is not the end, just another close to a day with another one right behind it.

Last year, I started walking around our neighborhood. Our neighborhood has changed a lot over the last few years, and I wanted to see how it is different. I also have been trying to lose weight, and nothing helps more than an evening walk. This is also one of the ways I unplug. When I take my walks, I keep my phone in my pocket and focus on what’s ahead of me. This keeps me from getting distracted and helps me focus on reflecting. The only electronic I typically use on my evening walks is my camera, from street photography to capturing anything random I see. During one of my walks, I saw an amazing sunset happening before me. I grabbed my camera and tried to capture photos of it as best as I could.
