Sometimes My Photos Stink

“Defeat may serve as well as victory to shake the soul and let the glory out.” – Edwin Markham

Every photographer would love it if every time they hit that shutter button the photo came out absolutely perfect. We would love it if all of our photos needed little to no editing, and they turned out perfect each time. Everything doesn’t turn out perfect each time. I’ve been a teacher for almost 14 years, and sometimes my lessons fall flat. I teach the same math lesson three times a day, and sometimes I make a mistake while teaching one of them. My photography is the same way. Sometimes I will look back at photos and wonder why I didn’t delete them in the moment. Maybe I thought I could salvage it, but there really wasn’t much to salvage. That’s why when I visit places or take photos of others, I usually take more than one. That way, hopefully, at least one of them turns out good.

Last spring, I had the opportunity to go to the Masters golf tournament during the practice rounds. For those of you who are not golf people, the Masters happens once a year, and it is considered one of the major golf tournaments that happens each year. There are a lot of rules when going to the Masters. One of them is you cannot bring your cell phone on the property. You either have to check it in at the gate or leave it in your car. You can bring a camera during the practice rounds. They have rules about the length of the lens and the sounds that it makes. We had a great time walking around, watching some of the golfers and enjoying the food they had to offer. Here are a few shots that I captured while I was there. I took over 200 just to make sure I got some good ones.
