Get Outside

It has been hot and stormy here the last few weeks. It’s hot during the day and raining in the evenings. I love being outside, but if I wait until closer to lunchtime it’s too hot for me. I prefer to go outside in the mornings. It’s also summertime. As a school teacher on summer break, I love not having to wake up to an alarm. I don’t move as fast in the mornings as I did during the school year. I want to enjoy this time. I do make getting outside a priority by either taking walks around the neighborhood or working in the yard.

One of my favorite ways to get outside is to ride my bike around town. It’s one of the ways that I take time away from everything and clear my head. When I ride my bike, I bring my camera with me. I bring it with me to remember the moment, and you never know what photo opportunities are out there. I captured these photos at one of my favorite parks in Charlotte, North Carolina, Freedom Park. Freedom Park is almost a 5-mile ride from my old house. Getting there is no problem. The way back is mostly uphill. The way back takes more effort; it is still a great ride overall. I usually like to go there, ride around the lake, and take photos. On the last trip I took there, I decided to do some street photography. Here are a few of the photos I took while I was at the park.
